Introduced in the year 2000, ANEW’s slew of computer related courses have been successful in bringing about computer awareness among the socially underprivileged segment of the society. Computer awareness is the new “literacy quotient” that provides the beneficiaries professional employment skills. Starting with a basic IT course, students, have the option to enhance their job prospects by taking up more value added courses at ANEW like DTP and Tally & Accounting. Women from the less privileged background who have completed high school level education or college graduation, are eligible to train in computer skills at ANEW. ANEW conducts the programs using competent computer professionals who are passionate about the cause. The course also includes supplementary classes in English and soft skills to improve employability. A ‘buddy program’, wherein industry professionals mentor the students to acclimatize them to the working environment, is also in place. . On completion of the course, trainees are required to undergo internship with organizations, in the relevant fields, that support ANEW’s programs.
Meaningful partnerships with the CSR departments of corporates for program content and certification, constant upgradation of course content based on market requirements, provision of relevant internships and tie-ups with leading IT companies for placements have all contributed to the runaway success of ANEW’s computer programs.
